We offer a great variety of courses to choose from - in two locations : Mountain Creek and Noosa. You will learn French quickly in a fun and interactive setting with one of our experienced and qualified teachers.

1 - BEGINNER / ELEMENTARY LEVEL

Conversation Workshop Beginners/Elementary T1

Conversation Workshops
This is a Conversation Workshop for Students who are at Beginners or Elementary Levels.

Workshops scheduled as follows:
- Tuesday 24th January (12.30pm - 2pm)
- Tuesday 31st January (12.30pm - 2pm)
- Tuesday 7th February (12.30pm - 2pm)
- Tuesday 14th February (12.30pm - 2pm)
- Tuesday 21st February (12.30pm - 2pm)
Pace: 1.5 hour / week over 5 weeks
1 - BEGINNERS LEVEL

A1.1 - MTN CREEK BEGINNERS DISCOVERY CLASS - T1

Standard Course


This class is designed for COMPLETE BEGINNERS in FRENCH for travel and language discovery.

In this course, you will learn:

  - Greetings, how to introduce oneself and French etiquette with essential differences between the French and English languages.

  - Basic French vocabulary, grammar and conversation used in restaurants, shops, hotels, banks, post offices, railway stations, airports, etc.

 - Some geographical, cultural and historical aspects of France and French life.

ATTENTION: Lesson 1 will take place on Thursday 27 January - at 6.30pm


Pace: 1.5 hours / week over 10 weeks

A1.1 - NOOSA BEGINNERS DISCOVERY CLASS - T1

Standard Course


This class is designed for COMPLETE BEGINNERS in FRENCH for travel and language discovery.

In this course, you will learn:  
- Greetings, how to introduce oneself and French etiquette with essential differences between the French and English languages.  
- Basic French vocabulary, grammar and conversation used in restaurants, shops, hotels, banks, post offices, railway stations, airports, etc.

A1.2 - MTN CREEK BEGINNERS Level 2 Class - T1

Standard Course


This class is designed for BEGINNERS in FRENCH who have completed 1 term  of French

In this course, you will continue to learn:

  - Greetings, how to introduce oneself and French etiquette with essential differences between the French and English languages.

  - Basic French vocabulary, grammar and conversation used in restaurants, shops, hotels, banks, post offices, railway stations, airports, etc.

 - Some geographical, cultural and historical aspects of France and French life.

ATTENTION: Lesson 1 will take place on Thursday 27 January - at 5pm


Pace: 1.5 hours / week over 10 weeks

A1.3 - MTN CREEK BEGINNERS LEVEL 3 CLASS - T1

Standard Course

Revision of basic French grammar and vocabulary including future, past and related tenses.
Exploration of grammar points using a themed approach.
Dictations, debates, discussions and short presentations.
Geography and interesting places to visit in France. History and fascinating anecdotes about well-known French personalities.
Topical events, a dash of French politics and some culture !

All of the above using various media (online exercises, CDs, DVDs, books and handouts). Pace: 1.5 hour / week

A1.3 - NOOSA BEGINNERS LEVEL 3 CLASS - T1

Standard Course

This class is designed for BEGINNERS in FRENCH who have completed 3 or 4 Terms of French.

This class normally takes place on Mondays from 10am to 11.30am at the J in Noosa.

In this course, you will continue to learn:

  - Greetings, how to introduce oneself and French etiquette with essential differences between the French and English languages.

  - Basic French vocabulary, grammar and conversation used in restaurants, shops, hotels, banks, post offices, railway stations, airports, etc.

 - Some geographical, cultural and historical aspects of France and French life.


Pace: 1.5 hours / week over 10 weeks
2 - ELEMENTARY LEVEL

A2.1 - MTN CREEK ELEMENTARY LEVEL 1 CLASS - T1

Standard Course

Standard Course

Intermediate Class:
- culture : French regions, news, literature, famous characters, food, French guest (one per term).
- writing : regular writing homework and corrections.
- phonetics, dictations
- understanding : audio documents, videos
- speaking : Q&A between students, role plays, conversation.


Pace: 1.5 hours / week over 10 weeks

B1 - NOOSA INTERMEDIATE CLASS - T1

Standard Course

This class takes place on Mondays from 11am to 12.30pm at the J in Noosa

Revision of all French grammar and vocabulary in the form of dictations, debates, discussions and short presentations.
  • Exploration of grammar points using a themed approach.
  • Geography and interesting places to visit in France.
  • History and fascinating anecdotes about well-known French personalities.
  • Topical events, a dash of French politics and some culture !
All of the above using various media (online exercises, CDs, DVDs, books and handouts).
Pace: 1.5 hours / week over 10 weeks
4 - ADVANCED LEVEL

B2 - MTN CREEK ADVANCED CLASS - T1

Standard Course

Intermediate Class:
- culture : French regions, news, literature, famous characters, cinema,, francophonie, food, French guest (one per term).
- writing : regular writing homework and corrections.
- phonetics, dictations
- understanding : audio documents, videos
- speaking : Q&A between students, role plays, conversation.


Pace: 1.5 hours / week over 10 weeks

B2 - NOOSA ADVANCED CLASS - T1

Standard Course

This class takes place on Mondays from 9am to 10.30am at the J in Noosa.

Conversation-based Advanced Level Class:

  • Culture : French geography and interesting places to visit, history and anecdotes about well-known French personalities, topical events, literature, famous characters, food.
  • Writing : short presentations, debate/discussion preparation, grammar exercises using a themed approach (regular homework including corrections).
  • Dictations.
  • Listening to/understanding audio documents, French news via internet. Speaking : debates, discussions and conversation between students on various topics including a dash of French politics!
All of the above using various media (online exercises, CDs, DVDs, books and handouts).
Pace: 1.5 hours / week over 10 weeks

New to the Alliance Française de la Sunshine Coast?

If you are a complete beginner, please email us to discuss your options.

If you have studied French in the past or have prior knowledge of French: 

Step 1 ► Please take one of our placement tests.
Step 2 ► You will be contacted for a free oral assessment over the phone by a teacher.
Step 3 ► We will tell you your level and you can enroll in the course of your choice.

Term dates:

TERM 1 : Monday 24th January to Friday 1st April
TERM 2 : Monday 19th April to Friday 25th of June
TERM 3 : Monday 11th July to Friday 16th September
TERM 4: Tuesday 4th October to Friday 9th December

The Alliance Française de la Sunshine Coast is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to promoting French language, culture, literature and history on the Sunshine Coast of Australia and to encourage French-Australian cultural exchange and friendship.
